The Problem With Black Magic
Book 2 Progress

Since people keep asking me “When’s the second book coming out already?” I figured I’d provide what information I can here. Creating the print version of TPWBM via Createspace is actually taking much too long, so I’m probably going to toss that aside until I finish Book 2. Granted, formatting the print version really shouldn’t take long enough to matter one way or the other, but I swear, it’s like the book is cursed or something— which may be appropriate. Annoying, but appropriate.

Besides, this way I can maintain my fantasy of one day creating SUPER print editions with gorgeous covers, lots of special content and bonus art galore and not have my dreams besmirched by the harsh reality of limited time:).

Back to Book 2, I’m sticking to Holiday 2012 as the release date, but it’s hard to say; I only did two real drafts of TPWBM, so I wrote it in a couple of months, but the second one is a very different beast. While the first book was kind of a quick thrill ride (and thank goodness some of the customer reviewers have confirmed that so I don’t feel like a pretentious tool for saying so!), the second one has a lot more characters, conflicts, and just stuff going on, period. Even knowing this book is going to be bigger than the first, sorting through all of my ideas to figure out what really belongs in Book 2 (as opposed to later in the series) is a challenge. I think the temptation is to just throw in everything but the kitchen sink, but of course that’s usually a bad idea.

Now that people are expressing an interest in the book, I think it’s natural to have a response like “OMG, let me finish it real quick! It’ll be up on Amazon tomorrow!”, but obviously I want it to be good first and foremost. For the time being, I’m having a blast hanging out with Sam, Cassie and the rest of the gang again, and I can only hope that will translate into a good sequel.
